RESIDENTIAL roof trusses

Manitoulin Truss Co. Ltd. produces many different styles of trusses for residential construction. Shown below are the standard style of trusses, commonly produced by our company. However, our engineering program is capable of modifying or generating different styles of truss designs to meet your specific requirements.

ROOF FRAMING SYSTEMS

No matter what style of roof system your building requires, our computer system generates a roof framing plan based on your requirements. Shown below is a typical truss layout for a gable roof system and a step down cottage roof system, as well as a partial view showing the installation of valley sets.

As there are many different types of roof configurations, Jager Building System's truss design program will determine how all roof truss configuration will be assembled. This program will design, engineer, and produce all components required for your application. All components are designed to the appropriate building codes and snow loads for your area, and building requirements.

As shown below, the truss drawings will indicate such things as roof pitch, truss spans, bearing locations and design loading in pounds per square feet. Also indicated will be top chord, bottom chord and web materials. Each truss drawing will have one of Jager Building Systems Engineers Seal attached to the drawing.

TRUSS ORDERING GUIDES

Things to include with estimate when ordering trusses:

  1. Span - or bottom chord length of truss

  2. Pitch - roof slope of truss requirments

  3. Overhang detail - the horizontal distance from the end of the bottom chord to the bottom edge of the top chord.

  4. Additional information  required to design your roof system must be specified on your blueprints which are required to get a building permit. This information should include such things as: Is your house clad with brick or siding, locations of vaulted ceilings or types of overhangs required.

ADVANCED DESIGN SERVICES

Manitoulin Truss Co. Ltd. offers an advanced design service which will assist you in working out your roof and floor truss designs during the planning stages of your blueprints. This method will allow your architect or engineer to design your complete building envelope without having to make changes during construction. Our package design for roof and floor truss systems will include locations of beams required, as well as beam sizes, and material specifications and all appropriate information on the specifications of the roof truss system.

All information you receive will allow any truss plant to generate a competitive quote for your project. Our advance design service typically charges $60.00 per hour, with the average roof truss quote for an 1800 square ft home averaging $450.00.

If trusses are purchased from Manitoulin Truss Co. Ltd. 2/3 of your engineering costs are rebated to you when trusses are ordered. Many architects and engineers now prefer to submit roof truss drawings to building officials that meet your building requirements instead of conceptual drawings as is normally shown on blueprints.
